The game suddenly shows Error 1016 when logging in. Everything else other than Diablo 4 is working fine with the network connection.

For Error 1016 you’ll want to run some connection troubleshooting, as this is an error associated with connection issues:

Restart Blizzard client

Check for D4 file integrities

Re-install D4

Set Exceptions for Diablo 4 in Windows Firewall (Both incoming and outgoing)

Disable Firewall (Windows Defender)

Open Diablo 4 ports suggested from Port Forward: " How to Create a Port Forward in Your Router for Diablo IV"

Switch to Blizzard client Beta mode

Disable IPv6 (Re-enabled after 1016 persists)

Check for other Blizzard games:
a. Diablo 3 - Connection OK
b. Diablo 2 Resurrected Connection OK -
Mobile Network connection works.
But using mobile network means I need to disconnect from my home network as well as my server & its service; thus, this is not a proper solution. My PC is both for work and entertainment, and I need to handle inquries anytime, no matter it is daytime or evening.
All my network devices, services, games (including other Blizzard games) are working except Diablo 4. Note that I am using fixed IP for home network. I truly hope that Blizzard take a look in this matter seriously, as the D4 was working fine before launching on Steam.

Thanks for getting back to us on this! From your description, this sounds like the fixed IP is causing some issues with connecting to our servers (specific to Diablo 4). You may want to ask your ISP if there is any assistance they can provide, such as resetting your connection. Otherwise, you’ll need to perform some additional troubleshooting which would be best carried out by contacting our Game Masters with a pingplotter file:

Besides, you mentioned contacting my ISP to reset my network, but everything is working except Diablo 4 (Even D2R and D3 are working just fine). Is there any specific information I need to provide to my ISP? (I don’t think ISP knows Diablo 4 Error Codes)

ISP Engineer came to check on my network connection a while ago, and could not find any problem with my network connection; everything has been working without any package / connection error at all. I wonder if Diablo 4 server blocks my IP.

I tried to work on the router settings, including factory resetting the router. In the end, I think I have found the reason causing the error 1016; not fix IP blocking, nor ISP’s problem, it is the DNS doing it.
For blocking ads and preventing kids from accessing unwanted websites/services, I do have Adguardhome setup on my NAS. My router’s primary DNS had been set to my NAS for filtering ads/malicious stuff from internet and protect all devices within the network behind my router. This setting had no problem at all since before and after the launch of Diablo 4, until the end of October 2023 when Steam version released.
I think I have done all i can now, and switched DNS to regular Google DNS for now… Vyhexus, can you and your team help me to resolve this matter, by hosting an Adguardhome server and diagnose the problem as well as finding a solution to it. Thanks.
